From making an appointment to picking up medication — all you need to see a doctor.

Clinic visit process:
  • Make an appointment (online or by phone) → check in / show your ID → fill out the questionnaire → wait → see the doctor → pay → pick up medicine at the pharmacy.
What to bring:
  • Your health insurance card (or National Health Insurance card), and cash or a credit card.
Note:
  • Without insurance, you'll pay the full cost yourself — first-visit fees tend to be high.
  • Most clinics in Japan require an appointment in advance.
  • If you have allergies or take medication regularly, prepare a medication note or explanation beforehand.
Language support:
  • Some larger hospitals have foreign-language desks or medical interpretation services — worth calling ahead to check.
  • If you can't explain your symptoms in Japanese, try writing them out in advance using a translation app and showing it to the doctor.
