Phrases for asking directions, finding facilities, and dealing with getting lost.
Tips for asking directions:
- Just say the place name + "はどこですか" (where is...?) — simple and effective
- If you can't follow the directions, ask them to point or draw a map
In an emergency:
- A "koban" (交番) is a small neighborhood police post found almost everywhere — helpful for lost items or directions
- For life-threatening emergencies, call 119 (ambulance/fire) or 110 (police) directly
