Speed and following distance: match the flow of traffic and keep a sufficient distance from the car ahead.

Accelerate firmly: press the accelerator hard in the merging (acceleration) lane and quickly build up speed to match the main road's flow (e.g., 80 km/h).

Check the timing: use the rearview mirror, side mirrors, and a visual check to confirm the distance and speed of vehicles behind you on the main road.

Merging: signal and smoothly merge into the flow of the main road traffic.

Maintaining speed: check the speedometer frequently (be careful, as speed often creeps up without you noticing).

Keeping following distance: keep a much greater distance than on regular roads, to react to sudden braking by the car ahead.

Staying in the driving lane: generally stay in the left "driving lane," and use the right lane only for overtaking.

Advance preparation: 1–2 km before your exit interchange (IC) or junction (JCT), signal right (or left) and prepare to move into the deceleration lane.

Decelerating: turn off the signal once in the deceleration lane, and use the brake to properly slow down to the posted speed (watch for speeding).
